Senior Purchasing Agent

Position Overview:

Responsible for supplier relationships and the material procurement process. Ensures that all inventoried material required to produce products are purchased and received in a timely manner and at the optimum price, resulting in meeting company goals for shipping, cost, lead-time and inventory level(s). Provides technical coordination with suppliers, supporting engineering team product launch deliverables and technical communication.

Job duties

  • Maintains and monitors inventory levels, purchasing records, and supplier performance.
  • Places purchase orders, ensuring material is shipped according to deadlines.
  • Has working technical knowledge of goods and services to be purchased.
  • Receives and reviews requisitions from the engineering department, and selects reliable suppliers based on price, quality, availability and reliability.
  • Identifies new foreign or domestic suppliers, supporting the engineering team in identifying solutions to manufacturing challenges.
  • Reviews sales records and component usage to develop procurement and inventory goals.
  • Keeps updated of changes affecting either the supply of or demand for needed products and material.
  • Interfaces with engineering and suppliers to resolve component issues in a timely manner to ensure delivery schedules are achieved.
  • Works closely with management to ensure inventory goals are met.
  • Negotiates and supervises supply contracts.
  • Provides Bill of Material cost analysis for new product development (NPD) and sustaining teams.
  • Provides procurement coordination and status updates for NPD team, working closely with suppliers to maintain accurate shipping dates, ensuring all required materials are acquired on-time for product launches.
  • Ability to travel to China representing the company’s interests, providing support to evaluate both current and prospective suppliers.

Skills and experience

  • 4-5 years of purchasing, supply chain, and inventory planning experience.
  • Prior manufacturing purchasing experience.
  • Must have strong negotiation, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Netsuite ERP software a PLUS.
  • Ability to learn and grasp concepts quickly.
  • Basic understanding of payment terms, landed cost calculations, freight, lead time, etc.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate technical related materials.

Sustaining Engineer

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least four years of LED lighting experience working in a manufacturing setting
  • At least two years of new product design experience using CAD software
  • Excels using CAD software (Inventor preferred, Solidworks, or Pro‐e)
  • A firm understanding of manufacturing methods used in the development of Luminaires (Sheetmetal, castings, extrusions, injection molding)
  • Ability to create manufacturing drawings per ASME Y14.5.
  • Outstanding oral, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Experience working with machine shop equipment a plus
  • Understanding of UL safety Standards helpful

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately creates BOMs for standard product and product releases.

  • Interacts with manufacturing to resolve part or assembly issues, deviation requests, and bill of material errors.
  • Provides technical support to purchasing department
  • Communicates efficiently with domestic and overseas component suppliers
  • Provide product knowledge support to internal customers, including Marketing, Product Support, Technical Support and Post Sales.
  • Present ideas and suggestions to help improve efficiency and reduce waste
  • Assists with administrating the CAD data management software (Autodesk Vault). Vault helps organize, manage, and track engineering data creation, and documentation processes.
  • Assists with quarterly UL/ETL product safety audits
  • Manages the companies Driver portfolio
    • Manages & Tracks the lifecycle of all inventoried drivers
      • Phase‐out / replacement coordination with purchasing
      • Provides Purchasing Dept. with strategies to optimize driver inventory
  • Engineering liaison to RMA department
    • Oversees and documents defective product returns requiring engineering attention

Mechanical Engineer

Qualifications

We are looking for a mid to high level mechanical engineer with experience in product development. The candidate will be responsible for working on new product designs, developing innovated LED based lighting fixtures, and ensuring their successful launch to market.

The Ledra Brands engineering department consists of a small team of highly motivated engineers who have a passion for innovation, and most recently worked together to achieve the prestigious Light Fair 2018 “most innovative product of the year” award.

Qualifications

  • Prior Lighting Industry product development experience required
  • Self-motivated, hands-on, strong aptitude for learning new skills, and resourceful problem solver.
  • Working knowledge of LED product design including understanding of electrical parameters and thermal behaviors.
  • Proficient with Inventor, SolidWorks, or other 3D modeling software.
  • Knowledgeable in machined parts, sheet metal, plastic injection molding, and aluminum castings.
  • Has a drive for success and enjoys a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or another technical related field

Responsibilities:

  • Works under the guidance of Engineering management to develop and manufacture new products, ensuring a successful production hand-off and product launch.
  • Works in a team environment with other engineers of various disciplines, and with other departments including marketing, purchasing, sales, production.
  • Interfaces with suppliers to evaluate sources, resolve technical issues, and improve cost and quality of designs.
  • Executes and delivers production-ready 3D CAD files and Bills of Materials, including components material specifications, tolerances, and finishes.
  • Assists in the development of project delivery schedules
